ഈ ഓണക്കാലത്ത് യുവാക്കളായ വൈദ്യ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളോട് പറയാൻ എന്താണ് കൈവശം ഉള്ളത്? ഇതായിരുന്നു കഴിഞ്ഞ കുറേ ദിവസങ്ങളിലെ എന്റെ  ചിന്ത. അതിൽനിന്നും ഉയർന്നതാണ് ഈ കുറിപ്പ്.   ഓണം മലയാളിയുടെ ദേശീയോത്സവമാണ്. വലിയ സാംസ്കാരിക മാനങ്ങളുള്ള ഒരാഘോഷം. മാനുഷരെല്ലാരും ഒരുപോലെ കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്ന ഏതോ ഒരിന്നലെയുടെ നനുത്തത്തും ഗൃഹാതുരത്വം നിറഞ്ഞതുമായ ഒരു തലോടൽ. എന്നാൽ ഇതിനുമപ്പുറത്ത് മറ്റുചിലതും ഓണസങ്കൽപങ്ങളിൽ ഒളിഞ്ഞിരിപ്പുണ്ട്. അവ തേടിയാണ് ഈ കുറിപ്പിലെ സഞ്ചാരങ്ങളത്രയും. അതിനൊപ്പം നടക്കാനാണ് ഞാൻ എന്റെ  യുവവൈദ്യ സുഹൃത്തുക്കളെ ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നത്.  പാടിയാടപ്പെടുന്ന ഈ പുരാവൃത്തത്തിന്റെ രംഗപടത്തിനു പുറകിൽ അത്യുജ്ജ്വലമായ ഉള്ളുറപ്പിന്റെ ഒരു ചിഹ്നം പതിഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. അത് മഹാബലിയെന്ന അസുരരാജാവിന്റെ ചപലതയറ്റ ബോധ്യങ്ങളുടേതാണ്. മങ്ങിപ്പോവാത്ത മധുരസ്മരണയായി ഈ അസുരരാജൻ ഇന്നും നിറഞ്ഞുനിൽക്കുന്നതിന്റെ കാരണവും മറ്റൊന്നല്ല. മഹാബലി നാടുവാണത് അധികാരമോ ആയുധമോ ഉയർത്തിക്കാട്ടിയല്ല, മറിച്ച് നീതിയും കരുണയും മുൻനിർത്തിയായിരുന്നു എന്ന് കരുതാൻ നിശ്ചയമായും ന്യായമുണ്ട്. കീഴടക്കലുകളല്ല, കരുതലുകളായിരുന്...
